Megan Clare is a writer based in Tāmaki Makaurau. While she is usually working on novels in the Young Adult and Fantasy Fiction genre, Megan has always considered poetry to be a form of escapism, where she can capture both passing thoughts and deeper reflections. After participating in Amy Grace Laura’s workshop at the NZ Young Writers Fest, she entered the slam on a whim and read two poems she’d written that day. The Otago Poetry Slam Champs 2025 was the first time Megan had ever read her poems aloud and she was honoured to receive the Spirit of the Slam award.
