What are our values at motif poetry and how do they guide us?

At Motif Poetry we have build values that guide the way we engage with and foster the incredible poetry community we are part of. Everyone of us is involved in local, national, and global communities, so we created values to guide us across all of these landscapes.

1. Rohe (Local)

• ‍Creative Path: Find poets from all walks of life, and build a path for them, progression from first time open-mic to established poet.
• ‍It's Alive!: Offer fresh, innovative and diverse poetry workshops, especially to Aotearoa High School students.
• ‍You Can't Eat Publicity: Always pay our performers, writers and workshop leaders.

2. Whenua (National)

• ‍We Exist: Make introductions to poetry, through social media, poetry slams and special poetry events.
• ‍That Was Unexpected: Find creatively diverse experiences for diverse artists.
• ‍Weaving Grassroots: Support poets and poetry around Aotearoa. Assist local poets to travel with their work.

3. Ao Whānui (Global)

• ‍Keep In Touch: Promote awareness of current events, platform our artists to respond to global issues.
• ‍Haere Mai!: Bring the best international writers, performers and workshop leaders to our communities, take our storytellers to the world.
• ‍And, Action: Hear from quiet parts of Aotearoa, share those stories digitally, globally, and with dignity.
